Bucks County Cup Final
The Bucks County Cup final will take place at Waddesdon on Saturday 7th September at 2.45pm, between Iver Heath and Gerrards Cross, the winners and runners up from Division 4. Iver Heath beat Broadway 84 - 33 in their semi final, whilst Gerrards Cross were 80 - 50 winners over Wolverton Town. The last time that Iver Heath appeared in the final was 2008 when they beat Gerrards Cross. Since then, Gerrards have contested 9 finals, winning 3 and losing 6, so they will start favourites to take the honours. I'm sure Iver will have other ideas.
In the morning, 9.45 am start, Hazells take on Olney in the County Plate.

Definitely the Wrong Bias
As we consigned 2023 to the history books I looked back 40 years, to when a World Champion bowler brought a team of illustrious sports personalities to play bowls against Princes Risborough. After an extended (and mainly liquid) lunch, the players took to the green. However. the names entered on the scorecards were certainly not as we expected. I can tell you that 12 different sports were represented that day and that the celebrities were all male.
Can you work out who the 12 sporting legends were?
RINK 1 : BIDDY RATVAN (Captain)
LISA CROWLINE
NELL SLIMENAG
RINK 2 : REG LIKEYARN
DREW GODIVA
DREW GODIVA
LIAM STRAWDEN
RINK 3 : ALBERTO VASELINESORES
FREDA RENTSNOB
RICHARD SHEENPOT
RINK 4 : ROLF TRUBFINCH
IRIS CROWBET
MILTON BAUBLE
HAVE A VERY HAPPY 2024 , both on and off the green. - ANN BENDYWHEEL
So here are the solutions to the sports personality anagrams, top to bottom:
DAVID BRYANT -- WILLIE CARSON -- NIGEL MANSELL
GARY LINEKER -- DAVID GOWER -- MATS WILANDER
SEVERIANO BALLESTEROS -- BRENDAN FOSTER -- CHRISTOPHER DEAN
CLIFF THORBURN -- ERIC BRISTOW -- BILL BEAUMONT
I hope that this puzzle gave you a little bit of fun during a wet and cold January!

Congratulations to Beryl, our first Lady President
Congratulations to Beryl Walford on being elected as President of the Club for 2023 and 2024. Beryl will be the first Lady President in the history of the Club. She joined in 1988, along with husband Tom and both have been very well respected members for well over 30 years. They previously bowled for the now defunct Molins Bowls Club before joining Princes Risborough and are well known and well liked throughout the County community.
