May 18th: Mixed fortunes for our entrants in the National Competitions. Lorraine and Del recorded a good win in the Mixed Pairs at Aston Clinton by 29 shots to 12, but had to give best to a strong pair from Amersham in the 2nd round. In the Foundation Pairs, Del and Roger Lawson visited Aston Clinton and went down by one shot on the third extra end - frustrating! Del played Paul Reynolds at Amersham in his first Champion of Champions match and came away with a hard fought 22 -13 win after 27 ends. Next opponent is Roger Crick (Broadway) at Princes Risborough on June 1st. Del and Tony Liggins enjoyed a good run in the Senior Pairs last year, but came unstuck in their first game this year, losing to Dave Coles and Andy Savin from Marlow. Meanwhile, Mark Baxter and Graham Barlow, in their first foray into the Nationals, visited Gerrards Cross and scored a great win in the Senior Pairs, albeit by just a single shot, 16 - 15. They now face a trip to Richings Park.  Finally, in the Senior Singles, Del will play Arwyn Bailey at Wendover on 27th May.
