JUNE 9th : A trip  to Olney, but no joy for Del Behenna in his Champion of Champions match against Mike Richardson. Mike had secured a 7 shot lead at 9 - 2 after 6 ends. With the score at 13 - 8 to Mike, Del held 3 with Mike's last wood to come and 13 - 11 looked likely. But Mike played his final wood with weight and accuracy and a 5 shot turnaround was the result, restoring his 7 shot advantage at 15 - 8. After 20 ends, Del had clawed his way back to be 14 - 18 down, but the Olney head greenkeeper was up to the task and ran out the 21 - 14 winner after 22 ends of a very competitive game.
